Social Media Policy
Ballawhetstone Stables is not categorised as public land, therefore the land owners have the authority to stipulate regulations relating to recording and imaging at BWS.
Ballawhetstone Stables complies with GDPR. Any media captured by staff or used for marketing purposes will only be used with prior consent.
Recording or photography without permission is strictly prohibited on our private grounds. Visitors who do not comply may be asked to leave.
Each client, staff member and person has a right to privacy.
In addition to equines belonging to BWS, many resident equines are privately owned. BWS requests that no recording / imaging should include or be taken of any equine (or other animal on site) outside of a Ballawhetstone Riding School session (without prior consent given).
The use of phones / recording devices of any kind is not permitted in any area of BWS’s grounds, without prior permission. This includes, but is not limited to, the car park, yard, indoor school, stables, tack room and surrounding fields. Permission can only be granted by asking your instructor, and in the case of shared lessons - by asking each client as well as the instructor.
Social media & sharing
Q. Am I allowed to record my child/partner/friend? A. Yes, if the following requirements are met:
-
You have sought permission from all other clients prior to recording. This is essential with children and under 18’s.
-
You have sought prior permission from the instructor taking the lesson
When sharing media / images taken at BWS to any personal social media site, platform (referring but not limited to:
facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter/X) or similar, BWS requests the following:
● Do not share any kind of media that includes a minor
● Only share media that can be viewed as positive - if you are unsure, don’t share it!
● Do not share any media that includes images or sound including BWS coaches / staff / volunteers. These individuals have a right to privacy.
The above should also be applied to comments that clients and associated individuals may choose to make via social media platforms or similar.
BWS accepts no responsibility for comments posted by others - HOWEVER we have a zero tolerance policy towards discrimination, bullying and abuse (online or otherwise).
Like us, horses have off days. We should only be celebrating/sharing a horse/ponies achievements - never a media clip of them acting out of character, or incidents which can be taken out of context. Imagine how you would feel if someone did this to you!
Note - horses / ponies do not have their own voice. As horse & pony lovers, we all have a responsibility to ensure horses/ponies are protected, and viewed in a positive way.
